Ministry in Quero

Ministry is going very well! The first week we arrived we started Bible studies with some local believers. We are having bible studies twice a week on one side of town and once a week on the other side of time. In the studies we are storying Creation to Christ. What we do is pick stories in the Bible, starting with creation, and tell the story in a story form. The people here learn better by listening, so by listening to the story instead of reading it, they learn and retain the information much better. We have storied about Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, all the “big” stories from the Old Testament. I wish we had time to tell all of the stories, but that’s not possible in 4 months! We are still working our way through the Old Testament, and will eventually arrive at the life of Christ. Each Bible study after we tell the story, we ask questions, such as “What did you learn about God from this story?” or “What did you learn about man from this story?” So the people really have to think about the meaning of the story and how it applies to their lives. It seems they are really enjoying it, and we are too!

We are also meeting with people individually in their homes. We have some basic discipleship lessons we have been doing with believers so that they can better understand their faith and what it means to be a Christian. We have other lessons that we do with individuals in their homes who are not yet believers. I really enjoy these one on one meetings, and these times give the individuals better opportunity to understand for themselves what the Word of God teaches.

Mijail is working and training some leading men/ pastors here in Quero. He does leadership material with them. He also travels to 2 nearby villages to work with a few other leaders and pastors in those areas. He is really enjoying that! And the pastors are really enjoying his teaching them. Mijail is now being referred to as "Pastor!" So proud of him :)

Actually we are really enjoying all the ministry we are doing here. We are seeing God move! And are praying about what more we can do here (work with youth, work with children, etc.)

Please pray:
1. That the rains will not hinder our Bible studies or individual meetings.
2. That God will direct us to more people to work with one on one.
3. That the believers in the area will continue to grow spiritually and have a desire to reach out and share him with their neighbors.

Thanks so much for your prayers!
3 more months, and a lot left to do!
I forgot to upload pics of the a few of the believers, so those will have to wait till last month, but here are a few of what's going on lately!

This is me as a giant blue marshmallow :) Got caught in some heavy rain at night, after a Bible study with a family that lives 30 minutes from our hostal! I have a ton of clothes on to try to keep warm and dry!

Mijail working hard, helping a lady with some tough work that she had to do for the school

And this is me while he's working hard! Pregnancy doesn't allow for hard labor hehe

  1. Greetings from Ricmond, Virginia.

I am Jerry Valenzi (Ria's husband) and work with Larry on the MLT. I think your blog is great. I especially like the "Blue Marshmellow", which you will probably never hear the end of. Congratulations on Baby Urrichi. I have always been fond of the name Jesus, but think Mijail Jr. is nice too.

A very special Happy Birthday to Mijail. May his greatest birthday wish come true.

God bless you all. May He keep you healthy, happy and warm. May He be with you always, and make your time in Quero most fruitful. We at Grace are very blesseed to be working with you on this ministry.

    Blessings,

    Jerry
